D&M JEWELLERY FINISHERS

Silver Plating

We deposit a thin layer of silver onto the surface of your metal item. Hard silver plating ensures a pleasing appearance and is very hard wearing.

You can select the thickness of silver you would like deposited, most jewellery is plated with 2 microns but you can choose from 0.25 microns to 10 microns.

Flash Gold Plating

Flash gold plating is when jewellery is given a very thin coating of gold, just enough to give a colour and even finish.

It is commonly used to plate costume jewellery or display items. This can be an ideal way of plating display items at a lower cost.

Hard Gold Plating

We deposit a thin layer of gold onto the surface of your metal item. Hard gold plating ensures a shiny appearance and is very hard wearing. You can select the thickness of gold you would like deposited, from 0.25 microns to 10 microns (most jewellery is plated with 2 microns).

You can also select the colour of the gold you would like depositing, as this is determined by the gold carat you select. D & M can offer 9ct, 18ct and 22ct gold.

Selective Gold Plating

Selective gold plating is used if you would like selected parts, but not all, of your item gold-plated.

This effect can be created by hand plating the item using our special tools, or we can “stop off” the areas you do not want plating and plate the rest of the item in our gold tanks.

We have worked extensively with precious stone setters to ensure that all their claw settings look perfect before being displayed in retail stores.

Hard Rose Gold Plating

Rose gold plating is a new addition to our plating services.

It offers a more unique luxurious finish to your jewellery. Hard gold plating is durable and can be applied to all precious jewellery and non precious metals. Please call us for more information or for a quote.

We can also offer a flash gold plating service in this colour. We also now offer a very hard wearing Rose gold colour of up to 10 microns in thickness.

This solution offers a bright pink colour with excellent corrosion and tarnish resistance.

Platinum Plating

With platinum’s look being so pure it can enhance the brilliance of stones and diamonds in jewellery more than silver or gold. There are also several benefits to platinum such as it does not tarnish or oxidise which means that it continues to give a brilliant finish to your jewellery for longer.

An added benefit is that very few people suffer allergic reactions from platinum as it is hypoallergenic.

Rhodium Plating

Black Rhodium Plating

Black rhodium gives a grey-black finish and is an interesting alternative to normal rhodium plating. There are two options available for black rhodium plating: selective plating, for when you would like only selected parts of your item black rhodium-plated, or an even coating for the whole item. We often use selective black rhodium plating to highlight black stone areas within a set ring piece.

Diamond Bright Rhodium Plating

Diamond Bright Rhodium plating from D&M Jewellery deposits an incredible, ultra bright coating that was previously not possible. Layer thickness up to 5μm can be attained without cracking, directly onto silver and gold. Diamond Bright Rhodium is highly resistant to abrasion, quick to cover and has superb throwing power.

Selective Rhodium Plating

This is the same process as selective gold plating, but using rhodium. This method is used when you would like selected parts, but not all, of your item rhodium-plated. Selective rhodium plating can be used to freshen up engagement rings (touching up the claws that hold the jewel in place), highlight parts on gold jewellery, emphasise the heads on coins, and so on.
